The Smallest Vacuum Cleaner In The World - Invented By ZenPlugs Own Dr Toby Bateson

In this video Dr Toby Bateson demonstrates his tiny vacuum cleaner in front of a crowd in Truro, Cornwall in an attempt to win the world record for the smallest vacuum cleaner in the world.

Our very own Dr Toby Bateson is hoping to soon be in The Guinness Book Of Records having invented the smallest vacuum cleaner in the world. ZenPlugs are very proud!

'It's been a passion of mine since I was a boy' he told us. 'I still remember watching my mum empty the paper bag on her old upright cleaner when it split and dirt went all over the floor.  You had to buy new bags to replace the old ones. Even as a kid I thought 'What a daft idea' and set about making a bagless vacuum cleaner.'

'They were small enough to fit in my pocket. I realised a couple of years ago that I could probably make the smallest vacuum cleaner in the world'.

Using off-the-shelf parts he made the smallest version he could; the body is a mere 44mm long, making it unofficially the smallest. The parts include a hamster blood bottle, a motor from a mobile phone, tiny button batteries and a piece of J-cloth. He organised a live event on Sunday to demonstrate his invention in a public place with independent witnesses. This is necessary for the Guinness World Of Records to officially recognise the achievement.

He is currently waiting to hear from them about whether he has succeeded in achieving the world record. Having starting inventing devices as a child he went on to invent the ZenPlugs Molded Ear Plug System and is currently working on a new type of rat repellent based on flooring tiles.
