Swimming regularly or for long periods of time can lead to infected, weepy ears. The chlorinated water of a swimming pool can wash away the protective wax in your ears. This exposes the underlying epidermis which can be softened by the water. Bacteria can penetrate into the underlying dermis resulting in the classic 'Swimmer's Ear'. This causes red, itchy, weepy ears which are calling out for a mucky finger to probe about in them. Unfortunately this caused even more damage to the skin and introducing more bacteria.

The corded ear plugs are unique as they can be remoulded as many times as is required to give comfortable and effective moulded ear plugs. When swimming, they stay in and don't fall out meaning you can rely on them to protect you against the perils of swimmers' ear, also known as otitis externa. In severe cases this can keep you out of the water and can spread to cause a middle ear infection. This may need antibiotics to treat so is well worth avoiding.
